Update: Yoshi has a very successful surgery to remove some of his tail and one leg. He is home and doing well. Thank you to everyone that helped make this happen.

Yoshi is a rescue Pit-Bull I brought into my family 7 years ago. He has a brother, Lyric, who is also a Pit-Bull mix, and a sister, Pepper, a rabbit.  Yoshi hopped our fence (he got his name at the adoption center because, like his namesake from the Mario Universe, he can hop, jump, and scale any fence). It was one of the first warm days in a while, and he wanted to explore the neighborhood despite my attempts to coax him into the car. He ran off into the woods and about an hour later, he came home limping, and bleeding. Yoshi made his way home, bravely, with injuries he sustained after being hit by a car! At first, I did not know what happened to him. I rushed him to Pender Veterinary Hospital Emergency Center. It could have been a lot worse! The fact that he made his way home makes me extremely grateful.  I feel incredibly sorry for my boy. The injuries one of his hind legs, and his tail, are severe he will have to have his leg amputated and a piece of his tail. It is hard to think that Yoshi’s life will have to change so drastically, so abruptly, after a simple accident in just one day. But I have seen three-legged dogs at work, and I have heard that dogs adapt very well to this. Especially considering that this is Yoshi, he is a champion and a fighter.  Yoshi is receiving pain management, and antibiotics, and is in very good hands, resting at the hospital.  Thank you for any assistance to help my boy.
