Ruger is a 6 month old Cane Corso. When we decided to purchase him, it was the best decision of our lives! He has brought so much happiness into our lives and now it’s time to return the favor to him. He was recently Diagnosed with Osteochondritis Dissecans (OCD) in both shoulders. Osteochondrosis is a disease that he was born with (unbeknownst to us) that begins with failure of the immature cartilage to form bone in the humeral head. This leads to cells that die in his cartilage. Just by daily activity such as walking, running, playing and jumping, he is slowly deteriorating his cartilage making it impossible to walk regularly. He has a limp in both front arms and is in unbearable pain. He is on around the clock pain meds and anti-inflammatory meds to keep him comfortable until his surgery. We met with multiple vets and are going to get a CT-Scan on December 19th (cost: roughly $1,200) and then will schedule his surgery (cost:roughly $6,000). The surgery consists of putting implants in both shoulders to help him walk normally and recover. The recovery time could be up until he is 1 years old. Although we will do anything for our fur baby, with us being young, this is a huge financial burden and we simply don’t have the funds to get this surgery that he desperately needs to walk correctly. If you can help in any way, even if it is just a small amount, it will help us more than you know. We want to give our baby a normal puppy life and you can help us make this possible. Thank you for your help.
