In addition to our Newfoundlands, Lucie and Garrett, we also have a Rosie. Garrett’s our goodest boy, Lucie’s our best girl, and Rosa’s our Queen Bee. She’s sweet, loving, wicked smart, highly sensitive, and loves those in her inner circle to the max. You might not see as much of her because she’s camera shy and doesn’t enjoy meeting stranger dogs. During a routine vet visit, we discovered that Rosa has a torn cruciate on the right side and a partial tear on the left. Her first ‘senior’ blood panel indicated she may have an adrenal gland disorder, and despite preventatives, she tested positive for antibodies to the bacteria that causes Lyme disease. Either or both of these conditions could increase susceptibility to a cruciate injury and will require treatment. We’re determining the cause of her irregular labs, and her vet has recommended surgical repair of both knees. If that wasn’t enough, Lucie has lost 25lbs, was just to the ER after finding her unresponsive, and is $1000 into diagnostics and stabilization meds without answers. While I understand the responsibility and financial commitment of being owned by 3 large seniors, we’ve experienced a lot of change and hardship over the past year and a half. I’m in the midst of an unplanned career change after losing a job of 7 years. Starting a small business has been extremely rewarding and also taxing. I knew I’d be without an ‘emergency fund’ for a period of time, but I believe in what I’m doing and making a difference for dogs and their families. Now my girls need necessary veterinary care and I’m just at a loss. It’s not an easy position to accept, yet here we are. Any contribution is greatly appreciated. My girls and I would really appreciate your support. Garrett too. Many thanks.
